Background
Grappa is a virtual tastings site, dedicated to connecting wine lovers across the nation. Alike other industries today, the wine world is adapting to social distancing. Grappa strives to provide you a seamless experience – in the comfort of your own home.
Role
• Competitor research
• User experience
• Visual design
Goals
Develop a concept and responsive design.
Follow UX principles from start to end.
Competitive audit
The first phase involved identifying main players. This step required researching similar services while pinpointing the areas that are successful versus areas that are not.
Personas
The second phase involved crafting personas. I created six users to help understand the type of people we are trying to reach. Since Grappa is catered towards wine tasters of all experience levels, two of the personas’ wants align with that of a newcomer and experienced.
User journey
The third phase introduces the user journey. I defined Nicole's journey, as coming from the newcomer perspective. Each stage closely examines what she's doing, what she's thinking, how she's feeling, as well as overall engagement level throughout her entire experience. The journey starts with Nicole's peaked curiosity in wine tasting (feeling nervous) and ends with her telling others about Grappa (feeling confident in her wine tasting capabilities).
